This Tax Accountant position is to assist in delivering the Direct and Indirect Tax requirements of the business for their Uk and European entities. Based in Luton they are a leading FMCG employer with an enviable brand name
Client Details
My client are based in Luton are a leading FMCG employer based with parking and good transport links. This role sits in the industry leading tax team of a high growth finance function that ensure there are always internal progression prospects for individuals. The Tax team is responsible for all the Direct and Indirect tax returns and payments across the business; this includes European entities
Description
Tax Accountant duties and responsibilities;
- Assist in the preparation of all UK and European VAT and Intrastat & EC Sales list returns.
- Complete the monthly UK VAT return including partial exemption calculations and manual adjustments.
- Assist in collating the source data for the Corporation Tax returns for all UK and country returns.
- Develop a close working relationship with all areas of the business including the revenue and commercial finance teams and pricing teams amongst others.
- Assist in ensuring that all systems across the business are set up correctly to record and report VAT
- Assist in ensuring that standards and processes are adhered to.
- Provide the Treasury team with the monthly cash flow forecast for tax and attend the weekly cash meetings to explain any discrepancies on actuals to forecast.
- Prepare all VAT and Corporate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure any outstanding and reconciling items on the returns are dealt with on a timely basis
Profile
Required experience and characteristics of this Tax Accountant position
- Current experience / knowledge of pan European indirect taxes preferable.
- Proven experience of working in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication and thought skills.
- Educated to degree level and be studying towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIMA or IIA).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Solid Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.
- Demonstration of cross functional working.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
