My client is one of the largest Universities in Wales.

Description

The Finance Business Partner's plays a pivotal role in the organisation and supports the Head of Business Partnering to raise the profile of Finance throughout the University and to develop a commercially minded business partnering service for Academic Faculties and Corporate Departments.

This will all be in the context of providing a first class management information service which adds significant value by enabling better decision making.

  • You will help drive a new culture of continuous improvement aimed at improving commercial awareness, budget scrutiny, cost- control and income generation.
  • You will also help to develop suitable costing methodologies and investment appraisal models.
  • You will support the Faculties and Corporate Departments in all aspects of Financial Management including monthly performance review, forecasting, budget setting and investment proposals.
  • You will also help coach and mentor the business on the use of new costing methodologies and investment appraisal models and use your skills and knowledge to challenge, sense check and support operational areas.
  • The Finance Business Partner will support in the development of standardised business rules, definitions and terminology, including reporting and investment appraisal metrics.
  • You will manage the production process of the monthly management reporting pack and develop improved monthly reporting at the user level.
  • You will also assist the Head of Business Partnering on ad-hoc projects

Profile

You will be CCAB qualified and hold ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualifications.

    • An ability to challenge, sense check and support Faculties and Corporate Departments and an ability to articulate operational ideas financially.
    • An ability to present to, communicate, negotiate and challenge a broad range of stakeholder
    • An ability to persuade and influence staff from other business area
    • An attention to detail coupled with an understanding of wider university strategic issues
    • Ability to communicate new ideas and drive change
    • Strong technical skills together with an ability to communicate complex ideas to non-financial staff
    • Ability to engage with key stakeholders to develop a rigorous approach to budget management while understanding the broader strategic view of issues, working actively to improve the effective use of resources within the University

    • Experience of business partnering and the use of financial and management information to drive continuous improvement in organisational efficiency

  • Experience of communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders

Job Offer

An initial 12 month contract starting Mid May/Early June

Salary up to c£48,000

35 days annual leave, Christmas Close, Easter extra day, 8 bank holidays (49 days annual leave)

Access to the career average pension on the 1/49th
