The Outpatient Department at The Royal Melbourne Hospital provides over 155,000 attendances per year in a large range of surgical, medical, allied health and nursing clinics. The Outpatient Clinics are multidisciplinary and a form a critical part of the care delivery system within the organisation.
The role of the Outpatient Clerk incorporates the following activities:
- Provide great customer service as per the organisational values to provide an excellent patient experience and the requirements of each clinic area
- Set up and maintenance of the supplies required for the safe and timely running of the clinics and the clinic environment
- Reception work for the clinic to ensure that the needs of each patient are met on arrival and for follow up appointments at completion of visit, including Medicare billing requirements and other organisational funding requirements
- May be required to work across all clinic areas to assist with business continuity of the outpatients department
To be successful for the position you must:
- Demonstrate highly developed customer service and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
- Demonstrate computer skills, including accurate keyboard skills
- Demonstrate ability to work within a team environment
- Able to work in a busy environment and under pressure at times
