Senior Commercial Manager

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) is a multi-award winning organisation and we pride ourselves on our team of high performing professionals who are talented, inclusive and safety focused.
We are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager for work on our Level Crossing Removal Project. This large-scale project will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.
In this role, you will manage Commercial and Financial support for a Level Crossing Removals Program Alliance.

Accountabilities:• Provide expert commercial and financial guidance to management and staff on all MTM and alliance issues.• Manage and lead the Projects Finance support team to ensure the efficient and cost effective management of financial services.• Develop and deliver corporate reporting requirements and deadlines to protect the integrity of financial information for the metro trains and the alliance.• Manage accurate recording of costs for each project, ensuring project cycle is efficient, maximising cost control and accurate reporting.• Support the Project Manager with the financial costing and outcomes of work. • Oversee the financial and administrative expectations of all internal stakeholders ensuring the provision of quality, financial and administrative support either by way of reporting or systems improvement.• Support continuous improvement objectives as measured by achieving compliance demonstrated in adhering to audit requirements and sound business practices.• Lead, manage and motivate staff.• Co-ordination of execution/administration of supply contracts.• Adherence to all legislative and regulatory requirements.• Knowledge of the application of the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry.

To be successful in the role, your previous experience will include:• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Engineering or Law.• Demonstrated experience at senior management level in an Accounting/Finance/Commercial environment.• Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budgeting and reporting of financial performance in cash flow management processes.• Extensive experience in Project Accounting and Finance in a multi-project environment (at least 5 years).• Extensive experience in managing Work Breakdown Structures in $100+m projects.• Experience of computer based management reporting systems.• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft software including Excel.• Ability to analyse data and write and present reports.• Ability to apply analytical thinking, planning and negotiating skills.• Ability to manage project Target Outturn Costs and financial requirements.• Ability to provide leadership, direction and mentoring to a small team. • Ability to use MS office computer programs with advanced knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
