Role & Purpose Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager, will manage the company's finance function and provide support to the Finance Director in the overall financial management and financial planning for the organisation. They will manage a small finance team to tight monthly deadlines and focus on continuous improvement of the finance function. The finance manager will also work closely with the Finance Director in managing compliance with GDPR.  As a member of the CMRF management team the post holder will work closely with other colleagues and provide financial support and leadership at all levels. They will have additional responsibilities in relation to specific projects as required. Financial Management & reporting Day to day staff management of a small finance team, providing ongoing support, coaching and training to the team. Management of the team to tight monthly deadlines, to ensure financial procedures are adhered to and accounts receivable and accounts payable are accurate, effective and timely. Authorise purchase orders and expenditure, including payments of staff expenses and supplier invoices. Management of the monthly payroll process. Prepare and present the monthly management accounts, including posting to the accounting system and budget v actual analysis and commentary. Cash flow management and reporting. Manage the year-end audit including preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with Charity SORP (FRS102) and coordination with external auditors. Assist the Finance Director in managing internal audits including partner audits. System and process improvements - review existing accounting systems and controls and identify and develop systems to deal with organisational growth, in line with existing and emerging best practice, audit, and charity compliance requirements, with a focus on automation, systems integration and efficiency. Support the Finance Director to develop, present and monitor annual and longer term financial budgets. Work closely with the Finance Director and board sub-committees to ensure good financial governance. Support to other staff Support the fundraising team in analysis of donor income and allocation of funds. Interrogate financial information for the organisation and bring key learnings, trends and findings to the Finance Director. Assist with the management of grant applications and project proposals from partners. Negotiate pricing with suppliers and act as the finance person on tendering processes. Liaise with and support internal stakeholders as well as the management team in order to develop and maintain good working relationships with the finance team. Managing the data protection project including training staff on important compliance requirements. Conducting audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues proactively. Serving as the point of contact between the organisation and GDPR Supervisory Authorities. Monitoring performance and providing advice on the impact of data protection efforts. Maintaining comprehensive records of all data processing activities conducted by the company, including the purpose of all processing activities, which must be made public on request. education & experience Fully-qualified accountant. The ability to manage and prioritise own workload and that of your team, and work with flexibility, reliability, and particular initiative to meet deadlines. Systems focused with an eye on continued process improvement and process efficiencies necessary for growth Demonstrated relationship management skills and experience in working in a supportive manner on financial issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with a range of professionals from broad backgrounds. Experience in using accounting software packages. Excellent attention to detail, organisational, administrative and time management skills. Solution focused with strong negotiating skills and integrity. Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience in a non for profit desirable but not essential. 3 years post qualification experience in a busy finance department with minimum 2 years' experience of managing a finance team to tight monthly deadlines.
