As the the Project Accountant you will work as part of the Accountancy team providing financial reporting, analysis and support for the London Major Projects business.

Client Details

The client is a large telecommunication, and Internet systems installation and services provision company based in London.

Description

As the Project Accountant your duties will include:

  • Production of accurate and timely financial information on a monthly basis - mainly project profit and loss accounts, revenue recognition, forecasts, accruals, wip and reconciliation of project costs within Oracle
  • Building P&Ls from scratch for new projects awards and working closely with Project Management team to ensure robust review of sales, costs and margin for the whole life of the project.
  • Working closely with the project delivery team to ensure financial controls are in place and updated accordingly taking into account current commercial status.
  • Liaise with project and business managers to ensure robust financial controls to track and identify project costs, their correct allocation and presentation in financial reports eg contract reviews, OSM reviews etc produced by CSM / PM, reviewed by FM
  • Month end procedures including sales accruals/retentions, journals, over / under overhead recovery analysis, orderbook
  • Financial reporting - OSM, P&L month, YTD & full year commentary, Causals (fcst v prior year and fcst v bdgt), Opportunities & Vulnerabilites
  • Assist in the production of P&L forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Understand variances to prior forecast & budget. Understand H1 v H2. Produce balance sheet forecast and budget. Submit P&L & Balance Sheet into Hyperion
  • Monthly review of existing contracts and their performance.
  • Monthly cash flow and invoicing forecast
  • Identify and improve financial processes to ensure effective information is provided to aid decision making and improve business performance as well as improving financial reporting and control
  • Liaising with external auditors and addressing queries
  • Dealing with ad-hoc accounting queries as and when they arise

Profile

As the Management Accountant you will:

  • Be Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA or AAT qualified.
  • Have worked in a Project Accountant position before.
  • Ideally have worked using Oracle or a simlar finance system.
