Main Purpose of the Job Assisting the Financial Reporting & Analysis Accountant with the preparation and delivery of the monthly Management Accounts, Profit and Loss account and Balance Sheet, alongside Budgeting and Forecasting, primarily using IBM Cognos and Aderant Expert. Key relationships: Internal: Finance External: Auditors, Regulatory Bodies (as directed by the Financial Reporting & Analysis Accountant) Main Duties and Responsibilities Assisting with the preparation and delivery of the monthly Management Accounts, Profit and Loss account and Balance Sheet using IBM Cognos and Aderant Expert. Assisting with the development and implementation of improvements and updates to the financial reporting processes using IBM Cognos and any other systems as appropriate. Supporting month end business reporting processes, including assisting in the development of new reports and liaising with Finance Systems and Commercial Finance as appropriate. Assisting with the preparation of annual Group and Team business planning and budgeting processes on IBM Cognos. Assisting with the preparation of annual Group and Team business forecasting processes on IBM Cognos. Working with Financial Reporting & Analysis Accountant on development of outstanding project deliverables on IBM Cognos. Responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of IBM Cognos models. Responsibility for and completion of quarterly, annual and ad–hoc surveys and renewals. Working alongside Financial Accounting team with audit requirements. Assisting Financial Reporting & Analysis Accountant on all aspects of firm wide projects as required. Dealing with any ad–hoc finance enquiries and analysis. Key skills and experience Essential requirements: AAT qualified or ACCA/CIMA part qualified or equivalent Strong financial and commercial acumen An appreciation of finance systems capabilities generally Excellent business analysis skills Advanced Excel knowledge Comfortable working in a full and varied accounting role Desired requirements: Previous experience of working in a law firm or professional services organisation Previous experience of working with IBM Cognos and/or Aderant Expert Multi–office, multi–currency environment Equal Opportunities Gowling WLG is committed both to promoting equality and diversity in the firm and to Equal Opportunities in employment.
