Audit & Risk Committee Member - volunteer role
Girlguiding is a fabulous movement of over 500,000 members across the UK. At local level an amazing 110,000 volunteers lead around 27,000 unit meetings each week. In addition to our incredible volunteers, Girlguiding employs 240 staff.
The Audit and Risk Committee is seeking to appoint a co–opted member with Board level health and safety experience. You will have an opportunity to play a critical role in our governance, ensuring that Girlguiding can identify and manage risk effectively, has appropriate controls and policies in place, and complies with relevant legislation and good practice.
As a co–opted member of the Audit and Risk Committee, you will contribute your experience, knowledge and insight to provide effective assurance and guidance to the executive team and the Board of Trustees on matters relating to key organisational risks. As a new member, you will be supported in the role through a comprehensive induction programme.
Our Audit and Risk Committee members bring a mixture of different skills and experiences to ensure that risk management and organisation controls are effective and enable Girlguiding to achieve its strategic goals. For this round of recruitment we are seeking a person with senior level experience of health and safety management to strengthen the Committee's knowledge in this crucial area. Senior level experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is also desirable but not essential.
