Head Office & Statutory Accountant

We currently have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Head Office & Statutory Accountant based in Warrington. Reporting to the Head of Finance UK Support & Governance, you will have responsibility for the delivery of financial month end reporting and assisting with the external statutory reporting for the HO and UK entities and treasury support. We would invite applications from Qualified Accountants, ACA or ACCA with 2–3 years post–qualified experience and who are operating in a similar role with experience working in a Group and/or Head Office environment. The successful candidate will challenge existing processes and practices to identify and deliver enhancements and improvements to reporting processes, financial systems and the internal control framework.

About the Role:
• You will have ownership for the delivery of the month–end close process for all Head Office entities
• Ensure that the month end reporting is completed in accordance with group reporting deadlines
• Obtaining and distributing the month end FX rates
• Working with and supporting the HO Purchase Ledger to ensure that all supplier invoices and bank payments are recorded in the correct period, legal entity and GL code
• Ownership of the reporting systems and general ledgers for all HO entities
• Ensuring that all relevant disclosures are submitted on Tagetik, including provision of all required supplementary information
• Interacting proactively with the Tax and Treasury team and regional finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting submissions, including central recharges
• Ensuring all intercompany balances are agreed and reconciled at each month end
• Ensuring that quarterly balance sheet reconciliations are carried out (P2,P5,P8 and P11);
• VAT return preparation (quarterly).
• Responsibility for preparing the central cost forecasts (quarterly) and budget (annually) and working with the cost centre budget holders and UK Finance team to deliver accurate and timely uploads and analysis on Tagetik
• Working with the UK Finance team to ensure the HO entities' financial statements are prepared, signed and filed within agreed timelines and group accounting policies
• Primary contact for external auditors to provide HO supporting documentation/information requests
• Keeping up to date with new accounting standard developments (FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS)
• Working with the Tax & Treasury team and Company Secretarial team to ensure that all Head Office treasury transactions are appropriately documented and recorded in the correct period, legal entity and GL code. This includes third party and intercompany loans, interest, dividends and capital transactions and foreign exchange
• Ensure that all Head Office intercompany transactions and balances are reviewed consistently and agreed with the counterparty before the month end close and to ensure appropriate intercompany loan documentation is in place for Head Office intercompany balances;
• Prepare the 13–week cash flow forecast for the Head Office entities to detail forward looking cash flow requirements to the Treasury team to allow them to anticipate and manage borrowing drawdowns and loan repayments

About You:
• Detailed and hands on experience of GL and sub–ledger transactions and period end close procedures
• Experience of working in a Group and / or Head Office environment, with the ability to step back and see the bigger picture
• Up to date knowledge of FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS, with proven practical application in commercial and business scenarios
• Strong Excel and analytical skills with an inquisitive/challenging mind set
• Preferable experience in SAP, SAGE 300 and Tagetik
• Able to manage and manipulate large and complex volumes of data from multiple sources whilst maintaining absolute clarity and integrity of outputs
• Strong communication skills at all levels
• Able to work independently and prioritise workload to deliver against corporate timelines in a complex, conflicting and often time–pressured environment
• Demonstrate the ability to quickly pick up new finance systems and to deal calmly with the challenges of a diverse and fast paced working environment
