Background The Middle Office is undergoing an exciting transformation to create a best in class end to end Supply Chain for Kerry Europe and Russia. The creation of the Middle Office structure, under the Chief Operating Officer (COO), has given great impetus for the Office to evolve to enable the delivery of our ambitious goals set out in the Region's 5 year Business plan. A core element of the Middle Office 5 year strategy is the European Capital Programme which seeks to invest over €200m in the period to 2022. The creation of COO and the development of the 5 year strategic plan, has also given rise to a new platform for driving optimisation opportunities across the Middle Office functions and improved governance and rigour of capital spend. The Operations Finance Function, which plays an important business partner role for the Middle Office, is seeking to appointment a Capital & Function Controller to support this agenda and inform business decision making for the Capital Expenditure and Engineering, QHSE, Regulatory, and Customer Care Functions. The operational footprint of the region, under the auspices of the Middle Office, consists of 31 manufacturing sites with an annual spend of +€800m. The fundamental remit of the role is to ensure maximum value and efficiency is achieved in capital investment programme and in Middle Office functions. Role This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the Operations Finance Team which is based in the Global Technology and Innovation Centre, Naas. Reporting directly to the European Operations Finance Director, the candidate will play a key role as we continue to build the "Finance of the Future" today. The successful candidate will oversee the governance of the European Capital Investment Programme from ex-ante evaluation through to ex-post review. The principal Function Controller responsibilities are to plan, manage and drive the delivery of key Functional projects and initiatives aligned to the Middle Office Strategic Plan. The candidate will ensure strategic and capital plans are delivered on, costs are optimised, value add projects are delivered, and insightful reporting is available to support business decision making. This role will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to shape strategic direction with Senior Leadership right across the Business. The successful candidate will operate, largely autonomously, to inform and influence senior stakeholders to drive efficiencies and value in the Middle Office Functions of: Engineering QHSE Regulatory Customer Care Key Role Activities and Responsibilities: Review investment business cases to ensure alignment with Global policies Oversee the governance for the approval and reporting of capital projects Develop and manage benefits tracking mechanism for approved capital projects Carry out post-delivery evaluations of capital projects and incorporate lessons learnt in the business case and governance processes Identify optimisation opportunities in the delivery of the capital programme Support the delivery and realisation of benefits outlined in the Middle Office Strategy as it relates to Engineering, QHSE, Regulatory and Customer Care Act as a valued Business Partner to drive improved performance opportunities in these Functions Lead strategic financial management activities including annual budget development and financial planning for these functional Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish performance and KPI targets, to provide variance analysis and to identify corrective actions to reach targets Ability to challenge decisions, performance, and expenditure with empirical, fact based insights to drive improved outcomes and greater efficiency. Education and Experience skills required: Proven Managerial/Team Lead experience Qualified Accountant in CIMA/ACCA/ACA or similar, CIMA preferred. 10 years'+ experience overall, ideally with at least 5 years in a similar role, with Capital investment appraisal experience Astute business and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret and interrogate commercial and performance data across the operational environment Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial managers A strong working knowledge of the application of computer based accounting systems, particularly with Excel, ERP and Accounting System. Knowledge of SAP would be desirable Excellent communication skills and ability to get on with people.
