The primary role of the Accounts Assistant is to maintain the integrity of the purchase ledger function. To ensure all invoices and expenses are correctly authorised, captured and creditors are paid in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Description
Essential Job Functions:
- Purchase ledger which includes processing purchase invoices and expenses, updating creditor's data and ensuring that all transactions are appropriately authorised.
- Cheque production including the production of cheque runs, refunds and commission.
- The Input of bank transfers onto our electronic banking system in order to make purchase ledger/ expenses settlements.
- Liaising with Lloyds TSB for tasks including stopping and reissuing cheques and ad hoc large transfers.
- Petty cash processing and reconciliation.
- Calculation of accruals and prepayments.
- Expense variance analysis.
- Involvement in the audit year-end process.
- Processing transactions streams to trial balance stage and subsequent reconciliation of control balances.
- Production of small company management accounts.
- Responsible for maintaining good relations with business partners via prompt payment of invoices.
- Cash management responsibility through the maintenance of a strong financial control environment.
- VAT reporting including the collation of input VAT information to assist in the preparation of the VAT return.
- Administration in relation to travel bonding book.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Profile
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, to include English and Maths
- Proficient in Excel and Powerpoint
- Solid analytical ability
- Good communication skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to adapt to business needs and tight deadlines
