An Accounts Assistant position for a leading shipping services provider and FTSE 250 company in London. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for running the transactional accounts.

The client is a leading shipping services provider and a FTSE 250 company based in London.
Description
The key responsibilities of this Accounts Assistant role include:
- Reviewing P&L nominal ledgers and analysing expenses for the two trading entities.
- Carrying out the month end close process for the accounting system.
- Preparing and posting journals, i.e. prepayments, accruals, intercompany recharges and month end journals.
- Assisting with the monthly management accounts pack reported to Group.
- Assisting with the monthly analysis of performance for the MD.
- Assisting with the preparation of WHT forms, Vendor Questionnaires, and ad hoc requests from our sales administration team.
- Intercompany Reconciliations
- Posting daily cash by liaising with the sales administration team.
- Assisting with the statutory accounts and tax computations at year end.
- Assisting with the information requests from auditors.
- Assisting with the annual budget preparation.
- Other ad hoc accounting/analysis duties.
Profile
A successful candidate for this position would display the following:
Numerate and knowledge of accounting principles i.e. double entry book-keeping/prepayments/accruals/debits & credits
- Degree educated within a Financial discipline
- Applicants must be self confident with good communication and problem solving skills and have experience of working in a team environment within a large organisation.
- Be organised and able to prioritise own workload in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Excel - no beginners, intermediate Excel skills is essential
- Knowledge of SUN Systems or equivalent and Vision would be an advantage but not essential.
