Client Details

Exciting Hospitality and Catering company with a great history in in the Education arena and a company growing year on year currently based in Central Stamford, North West of Peterborough. This finance function is led by a strong, experienced and fun Financial Controller keen to train and mentor an individual whilst offering flexibility for the Finance Officer with strong attention to detail, a proactive nature and common sense.

Description

The Finance Officer provides the Finance team with flexible support on the Purchase Ledger and Nominal Ledger. The role is suitable for someone who is a team player working in a Finance environment and is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in a variety of finance related tasks. A positive 'can do' attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible in the role is a must. The following duties and responsibilities are involved day to day;

  • Inputting invoices for all 4 entities
  • Querying incorrect authorisation and/or coding of invoices.
  • Distributing BACS remittance advice slips and cheque payments.
  • Assist on the Nominal Ledgers including termly accruals, prepayment calculations, journal preparation and input.
  • Manage the payment runs and banking
  • Undertake regular (monthly or termly) reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Posting of all transactions relating to bank accounts, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the budget setting process and the preparation, calculation and communication of annual budgets. Entry of annual budgets onto accounting system.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with the preparation of periodic management accounts and forecasts, including analysis of nominal ledger spend against budget.
  • Assist the Financial Controller with updating and developing reports in the accounting system and Excel.
  • Undertake ad-hoc project work as required by the Financial Controller.
  • Any other duties as might reasonably be expected or requested by the line manager to make an effective contribution to the team in a proactive Finance office.

Profile

  • Strong double entry Accountancy knowledge
  • Reconciliations experience
  • Purchase ledger expertise
  • assisting with month end accounting is desirable but not required as training is provided
  • Intermediate skills in the Microsoft office suite including intermediate skills in Excel
  • Proven ability to work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve and look for continual improvements.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer care to both internal and external customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Good organisational skills
