BASF in Hong Kong has an opening for a post-graduate or soon-to-graduate master student with a concentration in accounting and experience in finance to join the team. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to work on a project managing a set of processes within the finance department that provide support to the wider business globally. Working on a big-scale multi-country, cross business and functional unit project in Asia Pacific, the successful candidate should have strong English communication skills, eagerness to learn, willingness to challenge the status quo, and a hands-on, can-do attitude.

Objective:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, Hong Kong, the incumbent will perform finance and accounting duties related to the book-to-report (B2R) process by supporting the timely preparation of accounting books, reliable financial statements and reports in accordance with company and group policies as well as audit, tax and other statutory requirements 
  
Main Tasks:

• Handle general ledger accounting and month-end closing for Hong Kong companies of the group.

• Take charge in managing fixed assets accounting for Hong Kong companies

• Support the change management work stream

• Ensure accurate reporting for BASF Hong Kong Limited, including monthly CONDOR (SAP System) reporting, site reporting, Financial Statement Review Meeting and other ad-hoc reports as requested by management

• Coordinate B2R with the shared service center to enhance quality of deliverables

• Support operational planning and budgeting

• Handle tax calculation and compliance for Hong Kong companies

• Support interim and year-end audit for Hong Kong companies

• Support group internal audit where necessary

• Handle company secretarial tasks to ensure statutory compliance for Hong Kong companies

• Take up ad-hoc analyses and global, regional and Hong Kong projects as assigned
 
Requirements:

• MBA or master degree (plus 3 years relevant work experience) or bachelor degree (plus 5 years of relevant work experience) in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain management or related disciplines with good academic results. 

• Work experience gained from international public accountancy firms will be an advantage 

• Strong command in both spoken and written English and Chinese/Mandarin

• Well-versed in Microsoft Office and hands-on knowledge in SAP is preferred
