Role Depositary Services are seeking to appoint an Associate Regulatory Consultant to report directly to the Depositary Services Regulatory Consultant, located in Limerick. Depositary Services welcome applications for the position from candidates with either a legal or financial services background, who have an interest in pursuing a career within the realm of financial services regulation. However, an applicant with an understanding of the key principles of financial services regulation at EU, national and CBI level would be a distinct advantage. The role entails areas including and, not limited to, review of client documentation, supporting new business activity and product types within the depositary business, client management, regulatory change, engaging with regulators and assisting in depositary projects and initiatives. Regulatory Oversight Ensure the business is up to date and adhering to CBI, Irish and EU regulatory developments Provide analysis of regulatory developments that impact NTFSIL's depositary business and assisting in implementing necessary changes to business operations as required Engage with internal and external legal teams as required Assist in the review / revision of industry notices from a Depositary perspective Review opinions and standards of national (Irish Funds) and international (AGC, ESMA, AIMA) industry and regulatory bodies Client Management Review fund documentation from a depositary perspective, including prospectus / supplement / RMP / Valuation Policies and SLD Provide technical support to Depositary Relationship Management Participate in ad-hoc client meetings/calls New Business Support Provide technical support to Sales and New Business Development Analyse new product launches and depositary operational impact Review complex structures to determine the extent of Depositary service requirements Assist in preparing updates and assessments of new clients / structures Depositary governance forums Additional Responsibilities Work on team projects (e.g. new regulations and process improvements) Assist with the completion and submission of MI to Depositary committees Participate in the development of the procedures within the department Ability to identify risks and issues and escalate appropriately to the management team Skills Excellent communication and management skills Ability to work within a multi-team structure Ability to work on own initiative Strong problem solving, technical and analytical skills Good understanding of the laws and regulations applicable to depositary / trustee and local requirements, in particular, requirements for Irish funds Experience Third level qualification and/or advanced in professional studies A legal qualification or experience a distinct advantage Experience in financial services and/or legal services would be an advantage About Northern Trust For more than a century, Northern Trust has worked hard building our legacy of outstanding service, expertise and integrity.
