Role This individual will be a part of a client service team focusing on the middle office corporate actions. As the primary client contact for Corporate Actions; the individual will oversee the handling of all corporate event processing. The successful candidate will be a mature self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function independently in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment. This person needs to be able to resolve conflict within a short period of time and add value by working on a number of simultaneous tasks with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through. A familiarity with front office trading support, listed securities, structured fixed income and OTC products is extremely beneficial. Principal Responsibilities Researching the terms and details of a pending corporate action Establishing deadlines and disseminating them to clients and corporate action group Liaison between clients trading desks, prime brokers, and counterparties to resolve any reconciliation items, either cash or stock, that relate to corporate actions Monitor notifications from Sub-Custodians and external vendors Communicating effectively with internal partners, clients and auditors, tailoring information to audience as required. Work directly with clients to understand their business needs and provide solutions. Create and maintain process flows and control tools to accommodate new business needs. Build and maintain internal and external relationships. Coordinate testing and releases with internal IT and vendors. Make independent judgments (based upon market/instruments practices) regarding appropriate resolutions for security master data discrepancies Skills / Experience A minimum of 2-3 years Middle Office experience incorporating the above key responsibilities. Extensive knowledge of all types of Voluntary and Mandatory offers Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards when dealing with tight deadlines, high volumes and demanding trading desks and clients Understanding of the front to back securities trade flow Knowledge of financial markets and financial security instruments Knowledge of custody, securities lending, prime brokerage, market trading practices and position processing treatment Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bloomberg Excellent written and oral communication skills Proven team player, taking ownership for own role while contributing to wider team efforts Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related subject Highly flexible and adaptable to change Proven leadership experience and ability to work across global teams About Northern Trust For more than a century, Northern Trust has worked hard building our legacy of outstanding service, expertise and integrity.
