Purpose of the Role The Head of Trading is a new role reporting to the Director of Trading & Regulation with Energia Group.  This key strategic role will be responsible for leading the trading and risk management of energy and related products. The role will be responsible for trading Energia's thermal, renewable, CO2 and gas portfolios across the island of Ireland as well as trading in connected gas and power markets to enable portfolio optimisation. Whilst the nature of the role will develop as the Trading function evolves under I-SEM, the position will also have responsibility for the pricing of all of Energia's retail contracts in the commercial and domestic markets throughout the island of Ireland and production of regular gross margin forecasts.  The role will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure the Trading strategy aligns with the overall company objectives.  The position will also be responsible for the relationship with Energia's and Viridian's risk governance forums. The successful candidate will manage a high performing team within the four functions of the Trading department (Front Office, Middle Office, Pricing and Market Forecasting & Analysis). Key Responsibilities Effectively manage the functional areas of the Trading team through the significant change needed for I-SEM implementation. Coach, develop and motivate a high performing team to ensure individual and team objectives are met with an emphasis on operational excellence and innovative trading. Chair the daily I-SEM Trading Strategy meeting and develop appropriate governance arrangements around this key meeting. Manage the continual development of strategies and processes to optimise Energia's positions in the I-SEM energy and capacity markets. Identify key areas of risk and opportunity within the trading environment and deliver appropriate strategies in key strategic areas including those for gas transportation, retail pricing and hedging. Be the Trading team expert and owner of the Risk Governance Framework ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and reports are put in place and maintained by the appropriate managers within Trading. Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to collaboratively deliver overall business objectives and support wider company strategic projects and initiatives. Ensure compliance with all regulatory policies and codes across the relevant markets through a set of robust internal monitoring processes. Provide management information, reporting and insights for company boards. Assist in analysing development and business acquisition opportunities. Person Specification Vacancy: Head of Trading                            Vacancy Ref: VHEADTRAD ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Knowledge and Experience A degree qualification in a discipline with significant numerical and/or analytical content. Extensive experience in a management position within the energy industry, including experience of interacting with Senior Management level and above. People management experience including leading, motivating, coaching and developing teams. Experience of leading and implementing strategic change. Experience of delivering innovative continuous improvement initiatives. Detailed knowledge of current and future all island energy markets and trends at both a wholesale and retail level. Experience in developing and implementing trading strategies in multiple markets. Knowledge of GB energy markets. An in depth knowledge of key industry documents (Gas Network Code, TSC, SEMOpx Rules & Procedures, CMC, BMPCoP etc.).
