Dungog Shire Council is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Barrington Tops approximately one hour drive north west of Newcastle, NSW and within 50 minutes of Port Stephens beaches. The Shire has a population of 8,975 people, comprises an area of 2,248 sq/km with a variety of towns and villages. The Administration Centre is situated in Dungog.
The main responsibilities associated with the position include the preparation of general, special and management reports, annual financial statement preparation, manage and review budgets and monitoring processes, maintain internal control over Council's financial operations and reporting systems and lead a dedicated finance team. The position does provide opportunities to relieve staff at a more senior level to enhance career development.

Salary & Conditions
A salary in the range of $71 - $81K per annum will be negotiated, based upon skills, qualifications and experience. Conditions are in accordance with the Local Government State Award 2017. Additional benefits include Superannuation, private use of a Council vehicle on a generous leaseback arrangement and relocation assistance. Council financially assists staff who are undertaking recognised and continuing professional development programs. The position is offered on a 35 hour week, 19 day month basis.
Essential criteria includes but is not limited to:

Relevant qualifications and accounting experience in Local Government
Detailed knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Local Government accounting codes and practices and the application of same
Experience with integrated financial systems and strong computer literacy with Microsoft products
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of WHS, EEO and Risk Management principles
A commitment to customer service
Current driver's licence.
