Management Accountant

Metro Trains operates and maintains Melbourne's busy suburban train network. Successfully transporting over 400 000 passengers per day is achieved by our large dedicated workforce. The Infrastructure Division is at the forefront of maintaining and renewing our network and is currently seeking a Management Accountant to join the finance team. The successful candidate will provide advice and support to Infrastructure Division Managers in monitoring, analysing and reporting on financial and physical performance for revenue, recurrent and capital expenditure. Establish the financial, statutory and regulatory processes to ensure MTM utilises sounds management practices and achieves optimum efficiencies. Business partnering will be a key element of this role. Applicants should be experienced in developing successful, long term, strategic relationships to ensure that they are able to assist key stakeholders in achieving their financial targets. You will work closely with business leaders and line managers to achieve shared organisational objectives. Key responsibilities:

Timely and accurate reporting of financial results for the business
Develop and manage budgets for the Signals department and support areas
Provide Financial advice to your key stakeholders
Complete monthly reporting, variance analysis, as well as ongoing forecasting
Develop, implement and maintain internal control policies, procedures and departmental objectives and reporting standards, to protect data integrity and ensure compliance with audit requirements and sound business practices
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements

Education, skills and experience:

CA or CPA Qualified Accountant
Strong Stakeholder Management Skills
Sound knowledge and experience in computer based management reporting systems
Experience in financial management, including budgets and reporting of financial performance
