We are looking for a Assistant Accountant to join our small, friendly and expanding shop based accountancy practice. We specialise in providing a friendly, flexible and proactive all year round service to small businesses and individuals in Wallington and Mitcham.

Responsibitlites:

The key duties of the post are as follows:  

  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparation and review of self-assessment tax returns for sole traders, rental properties, individuals and partnerships
  • Preparation of corporation tax computations for limited companies
  • Preparation, review and submission of VAT returns
  • Completion of on-line submissions to HMRC and Companies House
  • Managing the processing of weekly/monthly payrolls and setting up auto enrolment schemes
  • Setting up new businesses with Companies House and HMRC
  • Provision of day to day business support to clients
  • Organising and updating relevant data using various applications
  • Answering telephone calls, dealing with enquiries and responding to queries in a timely, courteous and efficient manner and accurately logging information
  • Establishing and maintaining a professional and friendly working relationship with clients, outsourced partners and colleagues

Requirements:

Qualifications/experience/achievements required to do the job:

  • Part qualified ACCA/ACA or AAT level 3/4
  • 2 years’ experience in practice
  • Up-to-date tax and accounting knowledge
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Knowledge of accounting software – CCH, Moneysoft, Kashflow, QuickBooks
  • A high degree of IT literacy and the ability to embrace new technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer service focus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised and meet deadlines
  • Experience of dealing with HMRC
  • Working knowledge of payroll and auto enrolment procedures
  • Organising and updating relevant data using various applications
