This job represents a great opportunity to assist in the development and delivery of the Pricing Strategy and associated financial plan metrics for defined channels and products within the Direct & Retail Partners portfolio.



What you will be doing

• Manage the accurate and timely resolution of enquiries and escalated issues that either commercially impact or risk reputational damage to the Direct brands. This will include issues relating to pricing, documentation, data mapping and deployments.

• Identify innovative commercial development opportunities (eg new rating factors, improvements to question sets, extension of underwriting footprint or improvements in cover) to ensure that AXA achieves and maintains a competitive advantage and financial targets for the relevant product(s) are met.


• Working in conjunction with the commercial analysts and operational areas to interpret the anticipated impact of new initiatives/risks/external factors to formulate appropriate commercial strategies to ensure our business objectives are achieved. This could include:-


o New counter fraud initiatives
o Change in underwriting footprint
o Impact of new regulation/taxation
o Launch of new products.


• Provide analysis and scenario testing for the development of the channel/product Pricing Strategy. Aligned to the overall business strategy and Financial Plan targets. Including but not limited to:


o New business price point
o New business versus Renewal pricing approach
o Product coverage
o Underwriting selection management
o Risk appetite
o Target parameters for non-risk income generation
o Competitor benchmarking (product features & question sets)

• Assist in the financial planning process, performing robust analysis to create a baseline view and challenging any assumptions that are used.

• Provide analysis by working collaboratively with all other functional business areas to help identify and prioritise the right operational improvement activity that is aligned to the overall P&L for the channel/product

• Communicate business performance, financial plans, commercial decisions and trade-offs clearly and accurately to stakeholders (D&RP Senior Managers, Sales, Claims, Marketing, Distribution, External Partners)

Who are we looking for?

This will be a challenging and rewarding role that will require the Senior Commercial Analyst to draw on a range of technical disciplines to determine and recommend the optimal solutions.

Therefore the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

• Undergraduate degree in an analytical subject (at least 2:1)

Pricing and underwriting experience in general insurance
• Commercial awareness gained through previous commercial management of product inside or ou
